Agriturismo Le Stiacce

The room had everything we needed and was exactly as described. The place is gorgeous, only a five-minute drive from the Saturnia mill. We were welcomed warmly, and the surrounding area is full of little animals, including foxes, deer, hawks and cats. Beautiful. I don’t understand what people complain about. Highly recommended.

This was our second year choosing the house for a holiday, and I felt I should respond to two recent very negative reviews from the same people. The owners are very kind and discreet, and leave the house entirely to you, including the barbecue and outdoor table. The hot water is good, with excellent pressure. There are cats, including one we call “limping,” but they aren’t strays or sick. She’s ten years old and, as a kitten, was attacked by a fox. The vet couldn’t save her paw. The photos on booking.com show clearly that the house is in open countryside. I saw foxes and deer watching me when I went out to hang towels, and pheasants and hoopoes in the morning. There are insects, as you’d expect in the country, and if someone snaps at you, you’re probably not handling it right. The owners are always available, within reason. We had ten peaceful days, and barring anything unforeseen, I’ll definitely be back next year. Thanks for everything, see you then!

The view was the one bright spot. The managers were awful, intrusive, vulgar, offensive and aggressive toward us. Even though we’d paid in advance, they treated us as if we were there illegally. We had hot water only on and off for a few hours, practically no heating, and dirty blankets and sheets. Stray cats with illnesses and deformities came into the house. That alone should be reported to animal protection. Avoid this place like the plague if you don’t want your vacation ruined. It felt like a scene from a horror movie! Don’t try to leave a negative review on booking sites, because they get ahead of you and you’ll never manage to post it.

The studio apartment was spotless and had everything we needed, and we even got to use the lovely outdoor grill for a barbecue under the stars. It’s a wonderful spot in the Tuscan countryside, just a few kilometers from the Molino di Saturnia waterfalls. We didn’t have much time there, unfortunately, but we’ll definitely come back.
