Hotel La Fonte Del Cerro

The way we were treated during our €350, two-night stay was awful. We booked a room that was supposed to have three beds, but there were only two. There was no drinking water even though the hosts knew we had children, the kettle was broken, and the air conditioning barely worked. Mosquitoes kept us up all night, the room was poorly cleaned, and there weren’t enough towels. Breakfast was the same each day, tasteless and carelessly prepared. During the day there was nowhere to get food, not even a shop. The nearest restaurant was a kilometer away along a dangerous road without sidewalks. The so-called pool was a pit of spring water, with black worms and mud at the bottom. It was disgusting and unsanitary. The Wi-Fi didn’t work in our room. Outside, the signal was weak and unstable. There was no public transport, so without a car you’re stranded. The transfer they arranged was another terrible experience. They demanded €100 in cash for a ride that should cost €80 by regular taxi. When it was time to leave, they brought a broken-down car that smelled of fuel and had no seatbelts. We refused to get in. They returned with a Jeep showing dashboard warning lights and dropped us in a random town, not at the right station. We missed our train because of this. Kind locals helped us find the proper bus stop so we could get to the train. The hosts were arrogant and irresponsible, with no respect for guests. It felt like everything was about making quick money. Avoid this place at all costs. Sleeping in a tent would have been better.

The property itself was beautiful and peaceful, and the best thing about it was the private path that gets you to the hot spring in about five minutes on foot. The room we had was quite dated, though, and nothing was complimentary, not even water. Breakfast was a disappointing experience. You had to choose one of three sittings, at 8, 8:30, or 9 am. We soon understood that the small breakfast room got crowded, though from where I sat, there was space in another part of the restaurant where goods were displayed for sale. The food choices were limited and didn’t seem very thoughtfully put together. We didn’t feel relaxed, and this ended up being our worst breakfast in Italy.

The natural hot springs are only a few minutes away on foot, and the hotel also has a lovely private thermal-water pool tucked among the trees. Our rooms were comfortable and quiet, breakfast was nice, and the staff were super friendly with great suggestions for places to visit and eat. I can definitely recommend it, great value for money!

It’s a great spot to rest and unwind. There’s a calm, quiet atmosphere, and the care from the staff makes you enjoy every minute here. I highly recommend visiting.
