Le Guardiole

A peaceful place with kind staff, and the chef is top notch. Everything was gluten free and very good.

It’s out in the middle of nowhere, and I expected the service to be much better.

The setting was enchanting, right in the Tuscan countryside, and we had a wonderful stay. It was the last night before the summer season closed. We’d booked a standard room, but because of a mix-up they quickly put us in a delightful deluxe room for the same price. Everyone on staff was extremely kind and helpful. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this place deserves one. We’ll definitely come back.

Le guardiole is set on a beautiful private agricultural estate of 160 hectares, and our stay at the relais was a positive experience. The rooms vary, but ours was spacious, clean, air-conditioned and well furnished. There’s a pool with sun loungers and umbrellas, and the staff were friendly and helpful. You’ll need a car to get there and around. Lunch at the restaurant is cold dishes only. Breakfast was decent, with better savory choices than sweet ones, and everything offered was gluten-free. Prices are a bit high. Given the potential of the property, I think it could offer even more, perhaps a spa. There may be one, but it wasn’t listed as an amenity when I visited. Also, there’s no walkway to roll luggage easily from the dirt parking area up the steps to the lawn.
