Poggio Mario

After 19 years we came back, and it’s still the same welcoming agriturismo it was before. Of course, time passes and people get older, but that warm spirit is unchanged. A true agriturismo, one of those with an A.

We’ve been coming back to this quiet retreat from time to time for seven years. We’ve grown close to everyone here, and the food is truly excellent, all homemade: pasta, vegetables, wine, and meat from their own farm. There’s so much more I could say about the place and these wonderful people. ❤️

A wide, breathtaking view greets you at PoggioMario, set on a gentle slope in the Maremma hills. The place feels peaceful and genuine, with only the sounds of the grazing animals breaking the quiet. The family who run it, Claudia, Laura, and their team, are warm, attentive, and quick to help you feel at home. Food is a real highlight, from breakfast with homemade cakes, jams, honey, and ricotta to dinners of local dishes prepared with care. There’s wine and extra virgin olive oil made on the farm, and the pici all'aglione with Morellino di Scansano were especially lovely. The rooms have a rustic feel, with terracotta and simple, welcoming furnishings. They’re clean and comfortable, and each has a private bathroom. You can relax by the pool, eat on the porch, talk late into the evening, or wander among the animals, including Neve the dog, cats, and chickens. The atmosphere feels like family, and the farm offers a lovely mix of hospitality, local food, comfort, and quiet countryside. It’s a little gem between Saturnia and Manciano, and I’d warmly recommend it for a peaceful Tuscan break.

The breakfasts were a highlight, generous and full of genuine local flavors. We had three restorative days surrounded by nature, with real peace and quiet. The welcome was warm without being intrusive, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the service was impeccable.
