The patio was the one decent part of the house. Inside it was dark, and none of the windows had screens. The bathroom was tiny, with the toilet right against the shower wall, no bidet, and a crooked folding door that offered no privacy. The second bedroom we’d paid extra for wasn’t even prepared, so they put us together in one room. We’d booked months ahead and clearly said we needed two separate rooms. Check-in was restricted to Sundays from 2 to 3 PM, and when we arrived there was no welcome, just an empty house and a bottle of water. In all the places I’ve stayed, even in Sicily, the hosts provided what we needed at least for the first night. Here there was no hospitality at all. The manager also wouldn’t have given us receipts if we hadn’t insisted. When we asked about changing the TV channels, the friendly I... replied that if the boy couldn’t watch TV, nobody would die and it would actually do him good. The sea was certainly worth visiting, but the town seemed to lack everything. The hosts’ lack of care and courtesy left me speechless. Never again.
