Residence Onda Blu Bilo HB

We’ve had one of our best stays ever ❤️ The staff were friendly, and the service was professional throughout. We’re really enjoying it here and will definitely come back if we visit lakegarda again.

We’d just got back from a week at The Onda Blu Resort and had a great time. Lake Garda is stunning, and the hotel is lovely. There’s a relaxed feel around the place, and the other guests were warm and friendly. The location right on the lake gives you amazing views, while the pool area was clean, spacious, and never short of room. The beach and pool bars were handy for drinks or ice cream. They serve food too, though we didn’t eat there. The hotel restaurant was brilliant, with quality meals at reasonable prices. Our best meal was there, and the food was far better than what we had elsewhere for more money. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the grounds immaculate, and our room a good size, clean, and equipped with what we needed. There’s also a lovely lakeside walk to a few restaurants, and we enjoyed dinner at one. A few things gave me pause. I’m not sure it deserves four stars, although my wife says I’m being harsh and perhaps I’m just picky. Our room wasn’t cleaned once during the week, which didn’t feel in keeping with a four-star resort. It’s also fairly isolated from other resorts. A car would help, since supermarkets are only a short drive away. We didn’t hire one, so getting basic supplies was harder. In peak season there’s a bus between Desenzano and Salo that stops within a ten-minute walk, but the timetable changed the day before we arrived, without me knowing, so it ran much less often. Another bus stop is a 25-minute walk away. I also learned that taxis are much harder to get than in the UK. That wasn’t the hotel’s fault, so I haven’t marked them down for it. I’d recommend coming in peak season when buses are more frequent, or having a car. We felt we got good value for money, and having such a good restaurant on site after a day out is a real plus. Still, to me it’s a very nice resort, but probably not four-star.

The pitch was fine, and the campsite was clean, including the facilities. It’s in a great spot right by the Lago Di Garda beach. The staff were okay and the restaurant pizza was tasty. But why was there no soap or toilet paper? It felt a bit pricey for what you get, so three stars from me.

The location is great, though I suspect most good reviews are about the bungalows. Service was just okay. The camping pitches didn’t have enough rocks, so after the rain it was mud everywhere. There was no toilet paper, even though every other campsite we’ve visited had it, and nowhere to dry your hands. Cleaning was lacking too. The only cleaning of the facilities happened in the morning before checkout at 10am. We won’t return, we’ll go somewhere next door.
