Alan, the owner, was very kind. I needed somewhere quiet to sleep after a long trip, and I did get a good night’s rest. I chose this place because it’s only three minutes from the San Clemente nursing home, where I had to go.

The instructions for finding the door key were so cryptic that it turned into a treasure hunt, which was almost fun. The website and management’s recommendations before arrival, along with the notices in the rooms, had already set our expectations high. Still, you expect the basics even for a one-night stay. We ended up having to count out the tears in the toilet paper.

We chose it because it was meant to be a farmhouse, but there’s no food available, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner aren’t included. At least during our visit, it felt more like a guesthouse than a farmhouse, so keep that in mind before booking. The property has a lovely park and sits in a quiet spot away from traffic, though it looked a bit shabby outside, perhaps because of the season. Getting in and out uses access codes, and there’s no reception, which could be convenient or not. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom is small, and the cleaning was okay, though they didn’t make up our room on the last day.
