Hotel Brigantino

The location is great, and breakfast was good. The guys provided lovely service, especially Antonio. Still, for the money, I wouldn’t stay again. The rooms are tiny and the walls are so thin that we woke at 7 every morning to screaming kids on our floor and above, along with people clattering up and down the metal stairs outside. We had no hot water the first night and had to shower in a spare room beside the kitchen. In the morning I had to clean the pool myself, since there was no cover to keep debris out.

Really nice hotel and a great team. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly, and keen to help. I’d definitely recommend it, and I’ll be back to Elba again.

For what was on offer, I think 150-200€/night would have been reasonable. At 260€/night for a simple 15m2 room, I felt stuck with a price that was far too high, and I complained to Elisa right away. She showed us a lower-category room for the same rate, with a slightly larger bathroom that hadn’t been renovated. We aren’t hard to please, but that alternative felt unacceptable. We also couldn’t cancel our 6days stay without paying the full amount, so we felt trapped. I told the hotel I’d write about what happened. If value for money matters to you, I can’t recommend this place. The hotel is near Procchio beach, with a public road leading to it. It’s an old building that’s been partly renovated. We had a superior room, where the bathroom had new tiles, though I’m unsure the equipment was new: the shower kept switching between hot and cold. It was so cramped that I, at 190cm, nearly felt claustrophobic. The furniture was cheap, functional Ikea style. The mattresses were new and good, but the wardrobe had only one closing door, leaving part open. There was no safe, no mirror, and no way to make coffee or tea. Cleaning was OK. Breakfast was in an echoing - 1 floor room with only a partial garden view. It was noisy and chaotic around the narrow buffet. Most cakes seemed industrially produced, there were no typical local foods, and the only fruit was apples and pears. Some items ran out for anyone who arrived later, with no regular refill. The staff were nice. The swimming pool was small. I’m listing the details because the price didn’t match the poor services. I found the owner’s response to our complaint unprofessional and disrespectful, and felt Elisa had no customer relationship skills. The hotel is a modest 3star place charging what felt like a 5 star price.

We had a great four-night stay at the Brigantino. It’s simple but cozy, and the food was fresh and tasty. Elisa was especially affectionate and welcoming, and the rest of the staff were great too. The hotel is 200 mts. from Procchio beach, with several ‘lidi’, and it worked really well for a relaxing family holiday.
