Garnì Pe de Munt

We spent Christmas 2018 here, and I don’t think we’ll come back. We thought a place just for sleeping and dinner would be fine, but we ran into a lot of problems. Most of the staff were kind and helpful. The rooms could get too warm, ski storage at the Miara base station was available for just €2.30, and the daily fee for dogs and cats was only €6. The room had several irritating issues. The toilet seat wasn’t up, the hallway lights were so dim it was hard to see the door lock, and the TV, if there was one, was a jumble of Italian and foreign channels with no order or search function. The bidet had no standard faucet, so you had to fill it like a basin. I didn’t like using it and didn’t find it hygienic. The shower was small, and its curtain stuck to you when the water was on. I also hit the faucet several times while turning it off or switching the temperature, once getting burned by hot water. Dinner was the worst part. Christmas dinner took three hours, and the attempt at sophisticated dishes left them tasteless or awful. Finding the bread was harder than finding the enchanted valley, and we had to fetch it ourselves. A jug of tap water cost €1. The pencil for marking the next day’s meals was chewed all over, which was disgusting, and the waitress serving us chewed gum for all four days. I hope she changed it. The bill was also wrong: the wine price on the menu didn’t match the receipt, though they later discounted one bottle, and my dog was charged for twice the number of days before they corrected it. If you’re traveling with friends, check the room bills carefully because they make mistakes.

We spent around ten days here with the family and had a great time. I’d recommend it if you want to keep the cost of a longer hotel stay down.

A relaxing break in a little corner of paradise like San Vigilio is just right. The welcome is warm and friendly, and breakfast is excellent.

I’m on holiday at this garni and very happy with it. The food is good, and San Vigilio di Marebbe is a lovely, well-organized town with lots of walks you can take.
