Hotel Il Caravaggio

The hotel is a great base for trips around northern Tuscany. Over the years, we’ve taken day trips to the Apuan Alps, Barga and the Lunigiana region, Pietrasanta, Camaiore, Lucca, Pisa, Carrara, Forte dei Marmi, Livorno, San Gimignano, Populonia, and plenty more. The Cinque Terre are easy to reach as well. You can combine sightseeing with time at the seaside, and Il Caravaggio has been our peaceful retreat when we need it, just steps from a convenient beach. The restaurant looks out over the garden through large windows. The spaces are bright and well cared for, and I like the light, minimalist rooms. There are drying racks on the shared terraces, including a very spacious one set up as a solarium. The professionalism and hospitality are always top-notch.

It’s always reassuring to come back to such a welcoming place, run with impeccable professionalism. The restaurant consistently has excellent options, and the staff are always ready to help guests. Even from rooms without a sea view, you can admire the Apuan Alps. There’s always ample parking around the hotel, and the garden out front is very well maintained. We had an excellent holiday.

The food was truly excellent, and we always ate well. There’s also a buffet of vegetables and appetizers, and the value for money is excellent. We had a totally relaxing week in Versilia, with a warm welcome from the whole staff, from reception to the waiters and waitresses and housekeeping. Highly recommended. We’ll be back soon :)

The food was terrible, like a soup kitchen. Avoid it. The room was adequate, but nothing special.
