B&B Palazzo Diaz

The photos on Booking.com seem to be from many years ago and don't show how neglected the place is now. When I told the owner how disappointing our stay was, he said I should report it, as though renting out places like this were normal. I wish I could post the photos. We rented a quadruple room for one night and ended up in a hovel, with an unsafe, uneven entrance. The structure is very dated and badly maintained: cracks in the walls, a broken shower screen, old and neglected kitchen furniture, rusty fixtures, and disgusting dishes. The breakfast room had dirty curtains and windows. I strongly advise against it.

The staff were extremely kind and helpful, and our room was spacious, very clean, and had a modern, original design. We spent three nights at Palazzo Diaz B&B in Marsala's historic center. The terrace jacuzzi was just right for a few hours of well-earned rest. Breakfast was generous and varied, with sweet and savory choices and delicious local jams.

We enjoyed the stay, especially the terrace hot tub, which was roomy and relaxing, and the plentiful Sicilian-style breakfast. You can ask for whichever breakfast you like. The room was clean and spacious, with relaxing lighting, and the location was excellent, a short walk from central Marsala. Parking takes a little driving around the parallel streets, though parking in historic centers is notoriously difficult. I highly recommend it.

Debora's warm welcome was what made our stay especially enjoyable. Every morning she and the very friendly Giusy served breakfast with a smile and helped us choose places for local food, arrange excursions, or pick a beach club for a well-earned day by the sea. We loved chatting with them and experiencing the kind of Sicilian hospitality that people in the north often don't even know about. Thanks, Antonio, Debora and Giusy! The rooftop terrace was a daily favorite, with a jacuzzi and hydromassage plus a sun deck. It was a lovely way to rest after hours of walking in the sun. Breakfast was a generous buffet with sweet and savory choices, including chocolate croissants we devoured every morning. They also served fresh cucumber, lemon and mint water, which we really liked. Our group of four friends had one of the two suites. It was spacious, with two clean, air-conditioned bedrooms, very useful on hot Marsala nights. The recently renovated historic palazzo is tastefully done and right in central Marsala, with restaurants and a very convenient free car park just a few minutes' walk away. Even before we arrived, Antonio, the owner, sent us directions and information about parking and timings. We could tell from the booking that we'd found the right place for our Marsala holiday.
