Baglio Cudia Resort

A place to relax.

We were able to use the outdoor pool even during check-in, which was a lovely way to relax as soon as we arrived. When work kept us from having the included breakfast, we asked whether it could be changed to a lunch snack. The receptionist kindly brought peeled fresh fruit and toast to us by the pool. The rooms were comfortable, with little terraces furnished with a table, chairs, and a clothesline. They were a bit dark, and mosquito nets were missing. The large patio among the olive trees and the convenient indoor parking added to the peaceful feel. Baglio Cudia Resort is a former Sicilian country home in the Stagnone area of Marsala. We appreciated the warm hospitality and affordable prices, and would recommend it for a restful countryside break.

The rooms and breakfast could both use an update, but the kind reception staff and the location made the stay worthwhile for us, as long as you're not too demanding. I especially enjoyed meeting Mr. Cudia, an elderly gentleman who always greeted us with a big smile, whether at breakfast or in the courtyard. I loved his hospitality. Via del Sale starts just a few meters from the property and follows the lagoon, making for a lovely morning walk or bike ride. Continue straight and, in a five-minute drive, you'll reach the famous salt flats. There's also a pharmacy, a small market, and a gas station about 900 meters away.

The service was courteous, and the location is good. The rooms, though, were unattractive, with dark wooden furniture, yellowish walls, and dated wallpaper. They face an enclosed inner courtyard with walls and a large gate, making the place feel sadly prison-like, and there's very little greenery, just too much concrete. The pool was dirty. Breakfast was adequate, nothing more.
