When we’re just passing through, we don’t expect much from accommodation, but this was well below standard for €52 a night for three people. The ground-floor room felt like a garage or shop, with no normal outside-facing windows, a bit like a basement. There was no way to heat anything: no microwave, and no gas in the gas stove. The kitchen tiles and counters were dirty too. The location was good, with free parking 100 m away. I rarely complain, but at this price I can’t recommend it.

At €30 a night, the price was low but still didn’t feel like a bargain. There’s nothing special about the property, and cleaning is very basic. There are no windows for fresh air and no air conditioning; light and air only come through the screened entrance doors. Those doors open onto an internal courtyard used by other families in the building as an outdoor outlet, so you have to choose between privacy and fresh air. There’s no Wi-Fi. It’s on the ground floor, but cell phone reception is good.

This is a modest, accommodating B&B in a family setting, with kind neighbors just a few meters away, so privacy is limited. The street leading to it is very narrow and you can’t park there, which can be awkward with lots of luggage, though there is street parking nearby. There’s no air conditioning, but the fan worked fine and I didn’t mind the heat; the bathroom is spacious. The center of Marsala and the waterfront are walkable, so it’s a reasonable base for a few days in the area. The owner was extremely kind and gave us useful suggestions about where to go and what to see. The room could use more basics: usable pots and pans, shower gel or shampoo and soap in the bathroom, and a coffee maker or kettle. Overall, it felt a bit sparse, and it isn’t a luxurious B&B.

The location is excellent, and the host was friendly, but the house smelled bad and could have been cleaner. We found only hand soap, with no shower gel or shampoo. Both the housekeeping and some basic amenities need updating.
