We keep coming back to the Bergfrieden Berry Hotel in the Martell Valley because it feels like coming home. Grete and Roland make the place what it is, with their openness, warmth, and real friendliness. We’re grateful to them and their whole kind team for such a memorable holiday, and for the lovely fellow guests who helped make it special. The meals were a highlight, from a breakfast of fresh strawberries and regional products to creative, delicious dinners where every course was carefully made. We also loved winding down in the cellar bar. It’s rustic, comfortable, and full of atmosphere, the sort of spot where you want to stay awhile. The rooms are tastefully furnished, comfortable, and clearly put together with care.

The location works well for hiking, and there’s plenty of parking. I also enjoyed the bar, the friendly staff, and the lovely owners. The hotel has a swimming pool and sauna area, and the food is good and served in generous portions. A wonderful place for me.

I booked on a whim in 2024 after a friend recommended it, and I was so pleased that I’m coming back this July. The hosts and staff are incredibly friendly, the food is fantastic, and the location is a dream. The rooms are beautiful, and every day brought useful suggestions for hikes and outings. Highly recommended.
