Hotel Maxim's

Really nice.

Great.

A perfect place to stay.

What a shame, because the hotel itself is nice, the pool is well kept, and the beach is good too. Lunch and dinner were excellent, and the location was lovely. Breakfast was much less impressive. But the welcome was awful, they didn't even say hello at reception, and they ruined my holiday. Never again. I was pregnant, and even though I had mentioned it in the reservation, they put us in the worst room. The bathroom had a strong sewer smell that filled the room unless we kept its door shut. My husband and I reported it politely to reception several times. The cleaning lady tried sewer products every day to fix it, and she was uncomfortable about the problem too. She wondered why they hadn't moved us, given my condition. By the seventh day, we'd had enough, and the smell was ruining our holiday. We asked to speak with the owner, who never appeared. A manager came instead and said there was no smell and we were making it up, despite the obvious problem. One day after we'd returned from the beach, the smell in our room was so strong I couldn't breathe. They had me shower in another room, then sent me back to the one we'd been assigned. Absurd. We left the next day and paid for the days we'd stayed. There was no apology or friendliness, only rudeness. I'd also told them at dinner that I was pregnant, and it was noted at the table. Still, they served me an alcoholic sorbet and said sorbet normally contains alcohol.
