Stella Maris Marzamemi Apartments

Mrs. Lucia gave us a very warm welcome and was extremely kind. The studio was spotless and tidy, and although tiny, it worked for four of us for one night. It's right by the nightlife and beach in Marzamemi, but not so close that we were bothered by too much noise. We found the bed a little uncomfortable, and the bathroom had no window or bidet. Recommended.

There's a handy parking lot nearby, and the center is just a few minutes away on foot. This family-run B&B is in a building with the owners downstairs and guest rooms upstairs, reached by very steep, awkward stairs. The furnishings and fixtures are dated, and several fixtures don't work well. The room's furniture is old, too. The bathroom has no bidet, and its shower is tiny and really uncomfortable. The showerhead is fixed high up, so getting wet means twisting around to catch the spray from an old nozzle that seems clogged with limescale. There's no breakfast, so it doesn't really feel like a B&B. At €120 a night, the service felt overpriced. I wasn't given a receipt when I paid. I don't recommend it and won't stay here again.

The owner was cheerful and helpful, though her son seemed focused only on business. The room itself was not well kept, the bathroom was small, and the balcony was barely usable. Nearby buildings are so close that privacy is limited. The room is upstairs on the first floor, with stairs as the only access, so it's not accessible for people with disabilities. Parking is close, but was scarce and paid during this period. The property is in central Marzamemi, yet the upkeep is poor and the prices are high. There's no kitchen or shared space for breakfast.

The owner showed very little regard for our privacy. Early in the morning, while we were showering, getting dressed, and preparing to go out for breakfast, she stayed in front of our window for a long time cleaning the sidewalk and windowsill. I was very DISAPPOINTED with the room too, which did not match its Booking description at all. It was cramped, with little space and no exit, and only a single-door wardrobe for its sparse furnishings. The window faced the street with no curtain, so there was little privacy. The bathroom was tiny, with a tiny sink and a narrow, awkward shower with no handle or toiletries. There was no breakfast, not even coffee, and no internet. The pillows were awful and awful. We strongly advise against this B&B if you want a comfortable stay where your privacy is respected.
