Hotel Sant'Agata

Santa Agata is fairly quiet, with a good choice of restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops, including a great Patisseria. Sorrento is a lovely but steep 45-minute walk away, or you can take the cheap, frequent bus from the town square. From Sorrento, you can reach Naples, Pompei, and Herculaneum by Circumvesuviana train, though it’s always very busy. The hotel arranged a good-value boat trip to beautiful Amalfi and Positano for 70 euro, with enough time in both towns and a way to avoid the manic local ferry crowds. We had a lovely week. The hotel was spotless, with a nice reception and bar area, dining room, and pleasant pool area. The owner has an impressive collection of classic Lambretta scooters and fiat cars in the basement garage, well worth a visit. Our TUI room wasn’t huge but was more than adequate; it was cleaned daily and the beds were made. In the dining room, the Maitre D and the two waitresses, Carla and Anna, looked after us throughout the week. When we arrived, Aliara met us outside, welcomed us, checked us in, and arranged for our luggage to be taken to our room. Many thanks to the owners and staff for looking after us so well. We really enjoyed our stay.
