Villa Bellatrix

The hilltop setting is about 5 km from Sorrento, and the views make the trip worthwhile. Getting there is difficult, though. There's a bus stop nearby, but I'd still advise having a car. The views are unbeatable.

From the villa, Pompeii takes about an hour by car or public transport, while Amalfi is reachable by boat from Sorrento or by car. We found the owner very friendly and helpful, always available if anything came up. The property also has a washing machine and a covered terrace with a wood-fired pizza oven, barbecue, and fantastic view. Our apartment was modern, with air conditioning in both bedrooms and the kitchen, a kitchenette, and a bathroom with a shower. The views of Capri, Ischia, and the Bay of Naples were great. The villa sits on the hill above Massa Lubrense and is accessed via Sorrento. The road is narrow and steep, with oncoming cars and motorcycles to watch for.

The host was friendly and always ready to help, and the place was peaceful while still being a good base for exploring nearby towns. You can get to the towns by bus. The stop is a 5-10 minute walk away, and tickets are sold at the kiosk there. Two restaurants are also within walking distance. The car access road is narrow but manageable. Inside, the accommodation was spotless and had everything we needed, including a kitchen, AC in both rooms, and a large balcony. The pool area was clean and nicely furnished. There's also a terrace with an oven and grill, plus a washing machine. The view over Capri and the Bay of Naples is stunning. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly return.
