I was both excited and nervous about joining my first art retreat, meeting other artists, and painting outdoors for the first time. It took me just five minutes to settle in, and I made some lovely new friends. Miguel and Claudia, the owners, were wonderful and did everything they could to make our time at lovely Chiaraluce memorable.

Chiaraluce is such a special place to stay in Massignano. We spent three wonderful nights there, and the owners were kind and helpful, offering recommendations for things to do around the region. The food was so delicious, and the wine too. I highly recommend staying here. You can breathe in the peace.

The country house is in a gorgeous location, but tiny rooms and showers, along with a disappointing restaurant, took away from the experience. We were told dinner would cost €20 per person, then offered various dishes to choose from. The following day, we were surprised to be charged €51.5 instead of €40. When we asked why it wasn’t €20 each, they said we’d ordered items outside their 'clients' menu. I left disappointed and will probably stay elsewhere next time.

Top-notch relaxation and comfort, and a good brunch.
