It’s very close to both the train station and the town center.

The apartment was comfortable and very clean, and it’s only a five-minute walk to the old town and the main sights. Luigi, the owner, was polite and helpful from the start. He met us right on time, showed us around, and shared a map of the old town with useful tips. Everything was easy and well looked after. I’d recommend it if you’re visiting Matera.

Street parking was tricky, especially if you want to explore the city, so we used parcheggio commune behind the barrier. We paid 20 euros for almost 20 hours, about 1 euro an hour. The host was easy to reach on WhatsApp, and communication worked perfectly. He felt like a real host, even bringing us fresh croissants baked warm for breakfast, which were great with proper coffee. The beds are firm, as is often the case in Italy. Shower gel and shampoo were provided, and the shower cabin was just the right size.

The host was available and gave us lots of information about Matera and nearby towns. The location made it convenient to reach the sights. The room was small, with no closet and just one bedside table. The bathroom wasn’t very practical, the shower hose leaked, and there were no towel hooks. We also couldn’t make coffee or herbal tea ourselves. The place could be better organized.
