Viktoria made my four nights in November really special. She arranged a private walk in a nearby UNESCO nature reserve with a ranger, who spoke only Italian, but we managed, and she found an English-speaking guide for a tour of Mazara’s center. Her dinner tips were great too, and she went out of her way to make sure I had a perfect stay. The property is beautifully decorated, with several places to sit around it, and my comfortable room had a small kitchen and a courtyard view. It was quiet at night. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. Le Porte del Tempo sits between the modern and historic parts of Mazara del Vallo, in a lively seaside town that somehow seems to stay off most tourist maps. There’s a little space to pull up outside while unloading, and Viktoria pointed me to free parking. The seafront is about an 8-10 minute walk, and I enjoyed a few strolls there, including a gelato while watching the sunset. I highly recommend staying here, and it could also be a great base for exploring southwest Sicily.

The young managers were focused and clearly wanted us to have a great stay. The rooms are beautiful, and there’s a lovely inner courtyard where you can sit and unwind. Breakfast was delicious, especially the sweet options.

Getting ready for our wedding at Le Porte del Tempo was a joy. The staff made sure everything ran smoothly that day and put out drinks and tasty snacks for our families, which made the atmosphere warm and happy and took away a lot of stress. Before the wedding, they also helped my husband arrange a traditional Sicilian serenade, something deeply meaningful to us, and supported the idea with so much care. The hotel is in an old casbah, with lovely vintage Italian touches and character in every corner. It was a beautiful setting for such an important time in our lives. We’re so grateful for the team’s generosity, hospitality, and genuine kindness. Le Porte del Tempo brings together history, beauty, and heartfelt service. We recommend it very highly.

Our hosts were fantastic, generous with their time, and full of useful information. The historic building is fascinating, with a different look to every room, and it feels like staying at a stylish friend’s home. It’s perfectly placed for exploring the Kasbah, and would work really well for a large group too. A real hidden gem.
