The kitchen and dining room ceilings, along with the sitting room ceiling, looked as if they were coming apart. The bigger problem was the lack of basic upkeep: structural, electrical, and water maintenance all seemed neglected. We had to get the entrance key from a lockbox, and since the owner lives in Northern Europe rather than Sicily, nobody was there to welcome us or explain the essentials or who to contact in an emergency. As soon as we began using the lights and hot water, the main earth leakage breaker kept tripping, every 5 to 10 minutes. By the third morning there was no hot water at all, and the showers had weak pressure. There were six adults and a young boy staying over Christmas, from 22 to 27 December. The owner messaged on WhatsApp to say nobody could come out: he was abroad, and no electrician or handyman wanted to work during Christmas. We paid good money and ended up cold, unable to shower, with the electricity cutting out every hour or even every few minutes. Booking.com should make sure the promises in property listings are realistic. Attractive photos and offers are no help if the stay is a waste of money. This was the third place in a year that fell short of expectations. We are asking Booking.com for a refund. If they won't cover the whole ruined holiday, including travel, wasted time, and accommodation totalling €1900, we want at least the property cost reimbursed.

I spent four weeks there in December, on my own, and felt like a VIP. The place had a microwave, oven and stove, washing machine, dishwasher, and separate fridge and freezer. There was fast internet, Sky, Netflix, plus a wood stove and lots of dry wood. Thanks for letting me stay.

The owner welcomed us, and we had a really pleasant stay in a lovely place. The living room and kitchen were being worked on while we were there, but we had been told beforehand. To make up for it, the owner offered us a week of our choice in summer. I think I'll come back then and enjoy the pool and sea. I recommend this place!

Villa Giuseppe is a quality place to stay, with more going for it than just the pool. It's in a good location, has all the comforts, and is kept up to date and well maintained year after year. The owner is very helpful and always available if you have questions or concerns. Congratulations!

The owner deserves a mention too: Joseph speaks French, is smiling and discreet, and looked after us attentively throughout. The nearby village is picturesque and welcoming, especially its restaurants with delicious Sicilian food. The sea is just a short walk away, in a stunning part of Sicily. And the villa itself is a wonderful find: architect-designed, sublime, very spacious, and well maintained, with bedrooms of 30 m2, an incredible private pool, and a breathtaking view. Thank you, Joseph. We're booking again for next year. I highly recommend it!
