Villanuvola

A nice spot!

The room was lovely, clean, and quiet, and the place itself is peaceful. My boyfriend and I stayed last weekend in April. It works well as a bedroom or a base for visiting the main villages around Lake Maggiore, but that's about it. The owner treated us like family, and apart from one frustrating issue at the end, I had no other complaints. We booked through Smartbox. The owner told us breakfast was included and said the package must have a publishing error if it didn't say so. That turned out not to be true. We paid €15 for two breakfasts, but it came to €17 because he didn't have €5 change from the €20 we gave him. I hesitated to write a partly negative review, but nobody likes feeling taken for a ride. The listed parking is just one space, first come, first served, unless another family has already booked it. The most embarrassing part was Andrea's reply: “If a misunderstanding over the breakfast cost is enough to cancel everything, and your Smartbox ‘2-Night Getaway’ package didn't include breakfast, and I never said I'd give it to you, then I really misjudged you.” He had never mentioned offering breakfast. I asked about it, and he said the Smartbox listing had a publishing error. Then there was all that back and forth about insisting on breakfast, and I believed him. Mr. Andrea, on our last day you yourself said it was a mistake you should have made clear when we arrived. Instead, you said nothing until the last minute, then screwed us over. Your response was truly embarrassing. You could have handled it well by saying, “I don't have change, let's call it 10 euros, which was already enough for two breakfasts.” The problem was that you took even more money on top. Be careful!!!

A stunning villa, kept clean, with a lovely view. Such a relaxing holiday.

Really beautiful place, with a great garden and kitchen, and the location was great too. Sadly, there was no dishwasher.
