Hotel Melas

My wife ended up staying here for three weeks while I was in hospital, although we'd planned to tour Italy on holiday. The staff took excellent care of her. The hotel is right beside Cafe 37, which has a great chef, an ice cream parlour, and a launderette.

We booked two nights for our uncle and aunt. They said their room was very clean and neat, and the hotel's rates were fair and convenient.

I was here for a business trip and found the staff very pleasant and helpful. Nearby places to eat were reasonably priced, and a 20-minute walk gets you to some great restaurants.

I'm giving it one star because they took money from my card! If I could, I'd give no stars. On the night of 17th September, I booked a room through Booking.com. I live in Milan, was exhausted, and needed a hotel near work because going home just to sleep for two hours wasn't practical. I chose this place, then quickly realized my mistake: it was in Merate, not Milan. I called the hotel to cancel, and the receptionist assured me he'd canceled the reservation and that I didn't need to worry. Two days later, they still charged my card. When I contacted Booking.com, they told me the hotel hadn't canceled it, and had marked me as checking in on 17th September and checking out on 18th September! I'll never recommend this hotel to anyone I know. Thieves! I'll never take this review down. Thieves!
