Around Lake Maggiore, I get the sense that more and more restaurants are going for a sophisticated French style, with tiny portions and high prices. If you're hungry and don't want a panini or cheap pizza, be ready to spend a lot. This restaurant looks quite simple, not like fine dining, but the dishes are still overpriced and the portions very small.

Mergozzo is tiny, but such a beautiful, relaxing town, and we had a wonderful stay at Mele. We were there for two nights, and our room, riva, was modern and spacious. Staff were so lovely. Andrea was especially helpful, and the dark-haired lady was fantastic too, though I'm sorry I can't remember her name. The cheese tasting was a really unique experience and something we'd recommend. Grazie Mele for a wonderful stay.

We came just for the restaurant, and Andrea was extremely helpful in welcoming our large group. Everything was handled with a lot of care and attention to detail. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace and the cost inside too. The peaceful piazza, with the lake in view, made for a really nice setting.

We took our time over dinner and enjoyed the quiet, peaceful lake in the off season, even though the service was very slow. The staff were lovely, kind, and polite. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting, and all the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the antipasti taster board and the cod with polenta and onion confit.

We had dinner here not long ago and were really impressed with how far the staff went to accommodate us. The dishes were excellent, better than meals I've had at some 3-star Michelin restaurants. I’d very much recommend eating here!
