This was probably 2016. The hotel itself was excellent, authentic, and well located, but the staff member handling breakfast was terrible. When we got there, there was no food left. I asked for cheese and cold cuts, and he said breakfast was only cookies. I pointed out the bread in the baskets, and he seriously claimed it was for cookies. Then he went on a rant, yelling about Americans gobbling everything up in the world. It was comical in a way, but also annoying. I resent not getting the breakfast we'd paid for.

Set in a former convent in the city center, this small hotel has a view of a castle and an arrangement with an excellent restaurant. The rooms are charming and clean, with an oversized bed. Half-board costs 55 eur in this season, and breakfast is decent too.

The breakfast setup works well for a small hotel: you choose your morning meal the evening before, so there’s no buffet or food going to waste. The staff are friendly, and the breakfast is good. Even with a window open, the mosquito net lets you sleep comfortably, while the windows shut out the noise from the square. The room is spacious and lovely, with simple, practical furnishings. Some pieces are decades old, but look brand new. Everything is spotless and well maintained, and the air conditioning works very well. The bed is really comfortable, too. Add the central location and quality service, and the value for money is exceptional.
