Park Hotel Ai Pini

The dinner was excellent. I had the octopus and tiramisu, and both were delicious. One of the owners, whom we met in the restaurant downstairs, was friendly and professional, and found us a table even though they were very busy. Our room was beautiful and well equipped, with comfortable beds and good quality towels and bedding. We did have an issue paying for dinner in cash: we were given €10 too little in change. When we mentioned it, the waiter was quite rude and made us feel as though we were trying to con him. He never apologized for the mistake. I still really enjoyed our one-night stay and would definitely go back.

The welcoming atmosphere and helpful, friendly staff made this a pleasant base for visiting Venice. The grounds are kept up well, the rooms are clean, and Park Hotel Ai Pini is comfortable and in good shape overall. Some areas could use small updates, though. Given what we paid, I expected more of a five-star experience, and the lack of a gym, fitness center, pool, or other recreational facilities kept it from feeling like one. The location and overall quality still make it a solid choice.

The receptionists were nice, but the restaurant staff made me feel poorly treated. I asked a woman if there was dessert and she ignored me. After I asked another waiter, I had to wait awkwardly for five minutes before being told there wasn't any. For a shared bedroom, I think the beds should at least be separate, including the bed frames.

The staff were great and even helped us get a bus pass at the hotel. With the bus stop across the street and the Venice ride taking about 20 minutes, the location worked really well for our one-night stop on the mainland. We were heading from Tuscany and Pisa toward Venice, then Como, and were glad to park the car, drop our bags, and head into the city around 4 p.m. The return bus ran until midnight and cost €7; its stop was a couple of blocks farther down the same side of the road as the hotel. We felt safe walking around late and leaving the car, though the lighting near the gate could have been better. We enjoyed dinner, the sunset, watching the local life, and a cocktail before getting back before midnight. The bed was okay for one night, breakfast was adequate, and the blackout shades let us sleep in. We heard quite a bit of early morning noise from the second-floor breakfast area above Room 107, though we had to get up anyway. The shower faucet was stuck and wouldn't turn colder, so the water was just a bit too hot. It seemed fixable. We happened to get their last room in early October, and it worked out well. I'd recommend the place for its location and people.
