Hotel Cristoforo Colombo – Preferred Hotels & Resorts

Everything was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the location made it easy to get around. The staff were welcoming, helpful, and professional throughout. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. Highly recommended.

The restaurant was a bit pricey, and breakfast was mixed: the made-to-order hot food was great, but the bread selection was limited and the juice seemed low quality, perhaps from concentrate. I didn't have dinner, though I heard it was better. I didn't visit the spa or small fitness room either. The hotel is on busy shopping street Corso Buenos Aires, close to metro and tram stops, with plenty of restaurants and bars in the lively neighborhood. It costs less than the area near Duomo and is far enough from the station to feel safe. The rooms and public spaces are stylish, and service was very friendly. Our two rooms differed, and the higher-category one had long views toward the center and sunset. Its bathroom was big, and everything was very clean. The iron I borrowed was broken.

The rooms weren't quiet. All morning, while we were trying to sleep, we could hear the cleaning staff slamming doors and dragging furniture around. There was no water provided either, just small bottles at 4 euro each, unlike other hotels in Milan that offer free drinking water. We booked because the listing said all rooms had air conditioning, but after checking in we were told the AC was off for the whole building. They could only turn off the heat in our room, which wasn't acceptable. The pool and hot tub were also listed, but neither was free; access cost extra and was limited to a set time. We paid a high price expecting a relaxing stay with some luxury, and this wasn't it. There are more relaxing hotels nearby for a similar or lower price.

We booked September 14th to 19th, 2025, and what was advertised as a “Superior Queen with a courtyard view” turned out to be a small single room facing a wall. The bed had large stains when I arrived. The boiler broke, leaving us without hot water from 11 p.m. until 10 a.m. the next morning, and the SPA caught fire, leaving a terrible burnt smell in the lobby. I asked for an iron, but it didn't arrive until I called again. The restaurant listed a 2:30 p.m. closing time, yet when we came in at 2:20 p.m. after a business meeting, they said they could only serve salad, meatballs, or lunch leftovers. They wouldn't prepare anything fresh, not even simple pasta. Reception couldn't handle complaints or issues. I left my I Prefer membership ID with them at the start of the stay and emailed it to the hotel a few days ago, asking repeatedly to have it registered. As of today, nothing has been done. The worst hotel experience I've had in Milan, an absolutely nightmarish stay with truly terrible service.
