IH Hotels Milano Gioia

I barely slept, and this was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had anywhere. Noise carried all evening and night, from reception conversations to guests walking around. I’d specifically asked for a quiet room because I desperately needed rest after a two-day trip, but couldn’t sleep at all. I booked two months ahead and had made an honest date mistake because my flight to Milan was overnight. I contacted the hotel then and asked to shift the booking by one day. I was willing to pay for two nights even though I’d stay only one, but the administration abruptly refused. I didn’t take it further or contact Booking.com, hoping it might be sorted out on arrival, or that I might at least get a goodwill gesture such as an upgrade, since I was paying for a night I wouldn’t use. Instead, I checked in yesterday evening and was assigned room number 4 without any explanation. It was designed for disabled guests, which I hadn’t requested, and the layout made the toilet, sink, mirrors, and bathroom difficult for me to use. They said it was just “single occupancy,” but it was far below what I expected. I’d also asked two months earlier for a pleasant view and preferably a higher floor, and neither preference was considered. I believe I got one of the worst rooms in the hotel.

The front desk staff, both the women and the men, were nice. But this didn’t feel like a four-star hotel. My room smelled like sweat, the bathroom was dirty, and I could hear the toilet running all night. The AC was off and the room was so hot. I couldn’t wait to leave and shower somewhere else.

The room was unbearably hot, and even after we complained about it three times, nothing was fixed. We had to sleep with the window open, then the room filled with mosquitoes. The railway runs right past and makes a lot of noise. The location was awful, far from everything. Worst hotel I’ve stayed at. AVOID.

The room was clean, but the shower was old and dirty, which isn’t acceptable for health reasons. The hotel feels modern but a bit dated, and could use a refresh, like paint on the walls. The receptionist on duty when I arrived was unpleasant and asked for private information that I had to report to my bank that same day for security reasons. I was glad to find the other receptionists I saw the next day nice and kind. The hotel is okay, but a few small changes could make it much better.
