The apartment was still dirty from the previous couple when I arrived, and their keys were left there. I’d sent my arrival time by email and phone 16 times, literally. When I told them about the mess, they said it wasn’t their fault because cleaning was outsourced. Nobody took responsibility. Someone from their team came to collect the keys, then the cleaner arrived an hour later. I had to take work meetings with the vacuum running, and stayed stuck at the apartment for another two hours waiting for the cleaning to finish. My whole day was wasted, and they didn’t compensate me or even apologize. We also had to leave a credit card as a guarantee. Since no one had checked the apartment before we arrived, the previous guests could have broken or stolen something and we might have had to pay for it.
