NU Hotel

I’ve never written a review before, but we’re really disappointed with this hotel. The room had mold everywhere, and the air conditioning wasn’t working. We were told it’s a centralized system and there was no way to fix it. Humidity was over 80 and the room was over 25 degrees. Nobody offered a solution. Our keycard failed too. After we asked twice, an employee came along angrily, opened the door with a master key, and said we could get another card tomorrow if it still didn’t work. Never again.

The hotel has a great vibe, a quiet and safe-feeling neighborhood, and good breakfast at the restaurant. It’s modern and new, with a metro station about a five minute walk away and a large supermarket right next door. The room was clean and tidy, with enough space to open luggage. The single bed was on the small side but still fine to sleep in. I booked through Agoda, but didn’t see many comments about the air conditioning until I checked in and looked on Google. I had the same issue on 11July2025. The A/C was out of service. Staff said they controlled it from their side and it was automatic. I pointed out that the control showed a sun icon rather than a snowflake, and there was no cold air. The male staff member eventually told me to open the window. Fortunately, the nights in mid July were cool with the window open, but it got hot again once the sun came out. Keep this in mind if you’re considering the hotel in hot summer weather. The A/C is the major concern.

The room was 26 Celsius in Milan in June, and the air conditioning didn’t work. At reception they said they’d set the temperature to minimum and that this was normal, even though the lobby A/C worked perfectly and was a comfortable 21 celsius. They put an electric fan in my room and opened the windows while I was out, which seemed to confirm they hadn’t been honest with me. At checkout I asked for compensation. They said they couldn’t give me anything because I’d booked through an agency, which makes no sense to me. They could have paid by bank transfer or cash if they wanted to. They didn’t even apologize. The only thing they did was let me skip the €14 city tax. I paid around 150€ per night to sleep in a hot room for 2 days. Very very bad, and terrible from every angle. Stay away.

It’s a shame, because this is a decent property in a relatively quiet neighborhood. But the so-called 'green' A/C system just doesn’t work for guests. Neither you nor the front desk can control the airflow. You can set a temperature, but it doesn’t correspond to whether air actually comes out. It turns on and off without any clear pattern. I spent two nights there in late May. As of May 2024, the room A/C was still a problem and didn’t seem to have a solution. On the first night, I checked into a room on the 3rd floor and set the temperature to the lowest level, but the air stayed still and stuffy. The front desk gave a vague explanation about an 'issue', said they’d done a 'reset', and asked me to wait. It never came back on. They offered to move me to the 5th floor. There, the A/C blew normally, and I had a comfortable first night. But on the second night it stopped again. A different night crew said the temperature was already at its lowest and there was nothing to do. I watched the thermostat show the room getting warmer, well above the set temperature, but the A/C stayed off. I had to open the window for fresh air, which defeated the soundproofing. Then I had to sleep through passing cars and the nightclub opposite. With the window shut, the noise wouldn’t have been an issue. I was relieved to check out the next morning. I’ve never stayed at another hotel where guests can’t control airflow in their own rooms. Even the corridor had better air. I don’t care what the explanation or intended 'green' concept is, it simply doesn’t work for the person staying there.
