If you need to stay in the city for a longer time and can’t spend much, this is an option. It’s relatively cheap for Milano, but I wouldn’t choose it for a holiday. The old building smells a bit strange, and while the small apartments have the basics, including a little kitchen, they just aren’t nice. My room had constant noise from some kind of ventilation. The bathroom was tiny, with a rather improvised shower: the showerhead is in the middle of the wall, and you can hang a curtain around it. Even so, after showering the whole bathroom gets wet.

I was a foreign student on my own, and the owner’s response to my immigration situation was discriminatory and rude. He told me it was a problem between me and the police, after I showed him my codice fiscale and other documents. Before I checked in, we had emailed each other, but nothing in the Uniplaces listing, which is for student rentals, mentioned that I’d have to pay a monthly tourist tax if my codice fiscale wasn’t registered in Milan. The room I first got had old, outdated furniture, smelled of mold, and the bathroom had no shower enclosure, so you had to dry your feet at the exit. I raised these issues with the owner and he moved me to a more organized, cleaner room. But after a bath, everything still got completely wet. During my roughly three-month stay in fall and winter, the heating also stopped from time to time and didn’t even last through the night. I just wanted to leave, and when the owner asked if I wanted to renew, I didn’t hesitate to say no. Avoid this place.

The cleaning was good, but it’s a long way from things. There was a strange smell in the room, and the bed was a single. I wouldn’t recommend it.

My room is spacious, though a little noisy. The Wi-Fi is fine for regular browsing but too slow for streaming.
