It’s a beautiful place, which makes what happened especially sad. I’m handicapped and have serious medical issues. I say this because if I can be robbed, you could be too. I was treated like a thief and say I was assaulted by reception staff. We were never given receipts. My wife was told, “we received 500” on a bill where I had sent 900, or over 1000 euros per day. The whole place is under video surveillance, so why not check what happened? Why hide it? I’m not angry, but don’t pay cash and don’t leave money in the safes. Money can go missing, or the safe can be locked.

We booked dinner, then only found out when we arrived that shorts weren't allowed. The menu has no prices, the staff felt very cold, and the head waiter stared at our feet because we wore flip-flops to breakfast. Breakfast itself was poor. There was no Wi-Fi by the pool, either. The mattress was very uncomfortable: we asked for a king bed and got two singles pushed together with no topper. That's unacceptable at any hotel, especially one rated five stars. This doesn't feel like a four-star hotel at all.

During our seven-night stay, the pool wasn’t somewhere we could relax. Hotel staff used it too and brought along their teenage friends, who were very loud and inconsiderate of other guests. Some staff were inexperienced, and some weren’t friendly at all.

The rooms are a little dated, but with so much else going well, that didn’t matter much to us. The service was outstanding from beginning to end, and our three days were blissful. William leads the Al cart Restaurant, where the whole team was fantastic and paid exceptional attention to detail. The massage and treatment room is a must if you want to de-stress. I spent three nights here and was impressed by the high standards. The hospitality was top-level, the gym was great, breakfast had lots of options, and there was plenty of art around.
