Portoverde Beach Apartments

The apartment was in worse shape than the photos online led us to expect. When we raised that, we were told they couldn't show pictures of every apartment, but it still felt misleading. The pool had dirt in the water and looked like it had been neglected for years. The beach was average at best for nearly 20 euros a day, while a much nicer public beach was only a five-minute drive away. There were too many problems inside the apartment as well. The wiring was so poor we were told not to run more than one appliance at a time because the fuse might blow. Once, with only the washing machine on, the power went out. The switches in the apartment's fuse box were all fine, and because it was after business hours, it took us about an hour in total darkness to reach someone and get the power back. Nobody explained what had happened or followed up. Another time, the alarm started beeping while we were cooking rice. There was no smoke, just steam, but we were told the sensor was sensitive and not to worry. It was stressful anyway. The fridge wasn't cooling because its thermostat wasn't working. Staff replaced it two days after we reported the issue. We asked to move to another apartment but were told none were available. During our week we had to report and sort out problems several times, and management never showed interest in responding, explaining, apologizing, or otherwise following up. We've stayed in places in Egypt, Oman, Poland, and Greece, and this was a disappointing experience compared with them.
