Hotel La Stella D'Italia

Our earlier booking fell through, and our taxi driver pointed us to this place. I’m glad we ended up here. The staff were amazing, friendly, and helpful, and the beds were comfortable. Everything is small by European standards, including the bathroom, but we had no trouble with it. We only stayed briefly and loved it. It’s close to the main train station, a grocery store, and the Ferrari museum, just a block away. We always felt safe and would book here again if we return.

The beds weren’t comfortable. I chose the hotel because it’s close to the train station and the Enzo Ferrari Museum, and the location is nice.

On 15/7 at 1 am, with all trains from Modena cancelled, I called and was told I could come stay and check in. But when I got to the door, the woman at reception told me to go away and treated me like an intruder. I called again and spoke to the same man as before. He said they were “sold out,” just minutes after we’d agreed I could arrive. It felt awful and disrespectful. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The room itself was clean, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. I stayed three nights, putting up with the late breakfast after the first night, which was a Friday. The breakfast room was meant to open at 7:00 but didn’t open before 8:00. What was served was also sparse, just a couple of croissants and a cappuccino. Maybe you have to keep asking the person in charge for more food. The WiFi password kept being changed every day by the receptionist on duty, too. The hotel is near Modena's train station, but it’s mediocre and noisy, with unbearable traffic noise. It would need double glazing in all rooms to be good value for money.
