The host made us feel welcome during our short stay. The character building has spacious rooms, and breakfast was superb.

The location is handy for the city center, which makes the experience all the more disappointing. My room was dark, damp, dirty, and smelled awful. I reluctantly stayed the night, then told the owner the next day, disgusted, that I would find somewhere else. She was incredibly rude, even though she was at fault, and treated me like dirt. An apology, a different room, and a discount to match the trouble might have made the situation somewhat better. None of that happened. In my view, avoid this place.

Breakfast was generous and tasty, with homemade pastries and jams, and the value was excellent. We spent three days in Modica last week at B&B Il Cortiletto and had a magnificent vacation. It's a small historic property with artistic Baroque arches in the "Modica" style, conveniently placed near the center, main monuments, and restaurants. Professor Rita, the owner, was the real highlight: she's passionate about art and nature, full of information and advice, and always available and extremely kind. If you want to feel looked after and pampered, I'd highly recommend staying here.

Rita, the owner, is friendly and always smiling, and makes homemade jams, pastries, and cakes for a delicious, wholesome breakfast. The welcome is warm too. The B&B is in a historic stone building just steps from Modica's historic center.
