B&B Maison Medon

Honestly, one of the best B&Bs I’ve ever come across.

The room was tidy and clean when we arrived, and we told the B&B girl we appreciated that. She also offered to help with our luggage, which was useful. But the stay was disappointing for the high price. The B&B is in Modugno’s historic center, where ZTL restrictions make arriving by car awkward. Only residents or people domiciled there can drive freely and for free; the places to park are near Piazza Sedile or Piazza De Amicis. None of this was mentioned in the listing, and we only got a warning from the girl the day before arrival. We should have been told earlier so we could plan. Inside, stairs lead to the first and second floors. Our double room was on the second, up a narrow spiral staircase. With several suitcases it was very difficult, and the narrow space and thin steps felt unsafe if you weren’t careful. The breakfast included in the deal turned out to be packaged yogurt, croissants, and coffee pods to use in the machine. When I asked why it wasn’t fresh breakfast, she said HACCP rules meant they couldn’t provide that. The explanation seemed odd to us, and when she saw we were disappointed she returned 20 euros so we could eat breakfast elsewhere. There’s air conditioning in the room, a lifesaver in summer. The bathroom was another problem: water wouldn’t drain from the shower tray from our first day. I contacted the girl, who said she’d handle it, but it was August 14 and no plumbers were available. So I pulled out the drain plug myself and removed a huge amount of hair. The bathroom is very cramped, and I think it would be impossible for anyone to use the bidet because the radiator is right next to it. There’s also a little terrace above our room that looked nice and clean in the photos. In person it was dirty, messy, and full of bees, so there was no way to sit out and sunbathe or relax in the evening.

Clean, beautiful, and well looked after. The B&B is in a strategic spot that suits a work trip or a holiday.

The place was really nice and comfortable, and it’s well connected to the main attractions around the area. The staff gave us a very warm welcome.
