The bedroom and shared spaces worked well for dogs, and we slept like angels. We were looking for somewhere to relax for a few days while very pregnant and traveling with our active dog, and this was just right. Nemo, our 11 month old escape artist, could safely run around the huge yard while we read, used the wading pool, and sat by the fire pit. We cooked and ate there, and had everything we needed. We also bought jam, honey, eggs, and wine from our hosts. We loved our stay and are grateful to Antonella and Luisella for creating this place. We’re already looking forward to coming back. For the drive, the best way is through the small town of Sanico, then down the gravel road to the P&B. We made it slowly in our low Honda city car.

The fenced garden is huge, and there are plenty of lovely, quiet walks nearby. Our dogs can be a handful, from Belgian Malinois and Dutch Herder to Rottweiler and Papillon, but Antonella is always understanding and accommodating, even with the barky shepherds. She’s easy to reach and very helpful, so I don’t worry about the dogs escaping or whether we’ll have enough space and privacy. Pet & Breakfast has been renovated since our last stay, and now there’s a little pool in the garden, great for hot Italian summer days. This was our second visit, and we’ll definitely be back. It’s my favorite holiday spot, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

The rolling hills and wine country are beautiful, but the stay wasn’t the level of place we paid for, and we left after one night. The house has cats and other animals, and their hair and dander remain inside, which was a serious problem for my allergies. If you’re allergic to cats, you may get sick right away. There was also black mold in the shower, another concern for someone with allergies. The area is very remote, reached by a dirt road, and it felt far from everything. It was humid and rainy even in summer, and with no air conditioning the place could be warm and muggy. Mosquitoes were everywhere, making it nearly impossible to spend time outside in summer unless they don’t bother you. We wanted to support the owners’ commitment to animals, but 8 euros for a dozen chicken eggs felt too steep, especially since some were half-sized from young hens or tiny breeds.

Antonella and Luisella are two of the loveliest people you could hope to meet, and our dogs adored them. They’re true animal lovers and work hard to keep the place in great shape. We spent two weeks here and loved every minute. The secluded house is beautiful, with a high fence all around, so our dogs could run freely in the huge, well-kept yard. There’s a small, very clean pool for people and dogs, which was a real bonus in warm weather, plus sun loungers, places to sit in sun or shade, flowers, and lots of dog toys. The apartment is spacious and comfortable, with everything we needed, including a microwave, Nespresso, dishwasher, washing machine, extra duvets, and a pellet burner. The mattress was too hard for me, but that’s personal and not really a criticism. We can’t wait to come back!

A lovely restored farmstead in a quiet rural setting, with a fully self-contained, private apartment, its own garden, and shady spots. The owner was helpful and around when needed, but never intrusive. We brought our elderly blind dog while we took a winter vacation, and they treated her like one of their own dog family, keeping her safe and giving her lots of care. It would be a perfect place for a country break with our dog, or for guests without pets who enjoy animals or simply want to relax.
