Antico Borgo Monchiero – Art Living Hotel

The spa is small, but its setting in the monastery basement made it feel special. The hotel itself is lovely too, with an amazing vineyard view, and I can recommend the food. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel welcome because the service wasn’t always friendly. The sauna was only 55 degrees, and on our second day the steam bath wasn’t working. I told the receptionist, but she didn’t check it. My boyfriend managed to switch it on later, though we had to wait about 30 minutes for it to warm up.

The hilltop view is gorgeous, and it’s a lovely, romantic place. The restaurant was OK and reasonably priced. It’s clean, and the wellness center is worth trying. If you’re nearby, it’s worth spending some time here.

While planning my wedding, I contacted this place because it seemed to fit what we needed perfectly. Alessia, who was in charge, offered to meet us on a certain day, but we never confirmed that we’d go then because we had other appointments. I wrote to ask if we could arrange another day, and she replied very rudely, saying we’d left her waiting and that she couldn’t receive us that day. She must have misunderstood, since we never said we would come. I wouldn’t want someone so rude and unwilling to be a little gentle advising us on the most important day of my life. Such a shame, because the place seemed ideal for our wedding.

The rooms are new and nicely renovated, and what a stunning spot for a special event. It sits right at the beginning of the Langhe.
