We usually don't pay much attention to hotels, but every now and then one changes how we remember the whole trip. Abbadia San Giorgio did exactly that and belongs on our very short list of hotels that feel out of this world. Gretta and the staff made us feel so well looked after, and the owner was around and attentive. Breakfast was lavish, with fresh cakes baked each morning. The building feels straight out of a fairytale, almost like being an extra in a James Bond movie. Our room was classy, comfortable, quiet, and cool. Everything felt just right. I'd happily stay for months if I could. Thanks to Gretta and everyone there for having us. We hope to come back.

The owners were kind to us throughout our stay, and breakfast came with a smile every day. There was a generous choice of delicious food. The location worked really well too, just off the Main Street and ideal for our time in Moneglia.

I wasn't sure about the abbey at first when our travel agent suggested it, but the stay completely changed my mind. The service was impeccable from booking through arranging tours, beach clubs, and reservations, and the experience felt on a level with luxury 5 star hotels. Greta and her caring, wonderful staff made everything feel special. The breakfast was incredible, and the comfortable beds and towels made it easy to relax. Daily housekeeping came with home baked cakes and biscuits. I'm already thinking about when I can return and how to thank Greta and the team.

The double cloister was a lovely place to sit and unwind, and the adjoining church, built by the Francisian order, is beautiful. The Abbey itself dates back, I believe, to the 13th century, though it has been updated with the comforts you'd expect. We spent 6 nights at Abbadia San Giorgio and left very happy. Great was a wonderful host, always doing what she could to make our stay enjoyable. Suzzanne made a lovely breakfast each morning, especially her Scambled egg frittata, and her cakes and pies were delicious. There was even a little cake or pie waiting for us when we got back at the end of the day. Moneglia is also just a few minutes away by train from Cinque Terre.

It was a great place to experience Moneghlia and recharge during our Italy trip. Greta was wonderful, and the central location made it easy to get around. Inside, the place was very comfortable, and the WiFi was some of the best we'd had at any hotel on our trip. Breakfast was amazing, with high quality ingredients and noticeably rich flavors. We traveled with three kids, and staff left cakes and cookies for them every day. We also joined some activities with the kids, which they really enjoyed.
