Breakfast under the fig tree with a view of the sea was unforgettable. Sara gave us lots of suggestions about things to see and places to eat, and we later met Nadia and Signora Marisa, who made us feel like part of the family. We’d highly recommend this for experiencing the “authentic” Liguria. The house is ideal if you love nature and peace, and wild boars and roe deer aren’t unusual on the road to Moneglia in the evening. We stayed in the smaller apartment, a fully equipped 30m2 studio with a kitchen, fridge, and washing machine. The French bed might be a bit tight for a larger person, and there isn’t much room around it. The large terrace under the fig tree, with mountain and sea views, more than made up for the small interior. There’s also a larger 50m2 two-room apartment with a less impressive, smaller terrace. We were happy with our choice. The drive to the house is steep, as is typical in Liguria. The host suggests parking and walking the last couple of minutes. Driving right up means a long uphill section, followed by a very narrow, frighteningly steep final stretch. Moneglia is about 15 minutes away on a narrow, winding road. There might be a longer, wider route or buses for those who don’t want to drive, but we didn’t check. Sestri Levante is only about 20 minutes away via a smooth dual carriageway.
