My room was much smaller than the one I paid for, unlike the description, and it was poorly cleaned. There was obvious dirt, thick dust, hair, and stains on the sheets. When I asked for the price difference back, reception only made excuses. The staff were repeatedly rude and argumentative, talking back and seeming miserable and in a bad mood, without smiling. Fortunately, my bank accepted the photos and evidence I provided. Stay elsewhere.

The location was great and good value for the money, with a comfortable bed and a large, well-equipped bathroom. Nicoletta welcomed my friend and me warmly and made check-in very smooth. She also shared useful beach and restaurant tips. The other receptionist, whose name I don’t know, had a fringe and glasses and came across as unfriendly and stroppy.

We’d gladly stay at Alberto Diffuso again. It was a great price, right in the old town not far from Piazza Palmieri. We had a rental car, so walking each day to the free parking lot on the other side of town was a bit of a trek, but good exercise.

The apartment was very central, though there were stairs to reach it, even for the ground floor. They provided a baby bed, which was nice. The kitchen was missing some basic utilities, and they expected us to clean everything before leaving. Noise was a real issue. Although our room faced a side street and we kept the windows and balcony doors shut, we were woken every morning between 6 and 7 by sounds like workers and glass bottle collection or container emptying. Monopoli sorts trash on specific days, so keep that in mind. Breakfast was decent, but not great, and seemed low quality.

They offer lots of apartments around the old town, which made it handy for exploring Monopoli. A nice place to stay.
