Appartamento Piazza Palmieri

My elderly parents were shocked by the owner's behavior. He told them they couldn't use the fridge or kitchen, and seemed to find an excuse to enter their room every day by bringing them one piece of toilet paper. It was very strange. When we visited and went into their room, he came in about 20 minutes later, yelled at us, said visitors weren't allowed, threatened to call the police and said he'd throw my parents out. He has a camera at the door. We contacted Booking right away. They asked him to cancel the booking and refund the full amount, but he refused, so my parents had to stay two more days. Booking promised compensation later. During those last two days, my parents could tell he'd been in the room whenever they went out, because their food, clothes and other things had been moved. He entered at least five times, probably watching the camera and coming in once they had left. This person is creepy. It was the worst experience ever for my old parents.

Maria and Filippo were wonderful hosts, and the place is very convenient to the old. Breakfast was lovely each morning, with handmade cappuccino.

Really excellent!

The location is excellent, in Monopoli's historic center and close to churches and restaurants. But we felt unwelcome and watched, and the owners, Maria and Filippo, were rude and arrogant. Mr. Filippo argued endlessly when we pointed out the yogurt was expired instead of apologizing. The cleaning lady came into the room more than once without knocking, and during our five-day beach holiday the room was never cleaned. A terrible stay. The second-floor room was tiny, dark, and stuffy, with only one window, no balcony and no bathroom window. The stairs were very high and narrow, the furniture was dated, and the yellow lighting didn't help. For the price, nearby places offer much better value. Breakfast was very poor, with little or no choice and the same things every day: one bad piece of fruit, expired yogurt and a small knob of unpackaged butter with no expiration date, not enough even for one person. We got one glass of water, watery coffee and either a single slice of homemade donut or two biscuits, with no alternatives. I prefer a savory breakfast, so I had to eat elsewhere. When I asked once about eggs, they looked at me as if I'd asked for the moon. Of the four breakfasts included in our reservation, we only ate one.
