B&b Dimora Palmieri

I used to be very impressed with this place and had stayed several times, but the recent visits had been disappointing. The last one, more than a year ago, was by far the worst. I recommended it to a friend, who booked a room and arrived at night. I left the check-in arrangements to the hosts, but when she got there, nobody was present or reachable. She had nowhere else to go, so I offered to share my room for the night. In the morning, Maria and Filipo were angry that she’d stayed with me, and said I should have told Maria she was coming. I found that strange since it’s not my B&B, and it felt unprofessional to have guests checking in other guests. I assumed they wouldn’t charge her for a night spent sharing my room, but they insisted she pay. When we challenged this, Filipo started shouting at us. His aggressive attitude toward two women shocked me, especially after the cheerful way they both act in the mornings. The hosts were extremely rigid and showed no human side that time. Service isn’t great, and breakfast is mediocre. Italian breakfasts can be amazing, so I wouldn’t eat here unless saving money is the priority. I won’t stay again. I’d rather pay a bit more at Don Ferrante down the road for better service.

Maria and Philipo are very helpful, friendly hosts, and the rooms are clean in a great location. They’re both what I’d call high energy, especially at breakfast, with lots of animation. I prefer a slow start, a quiet coffee and toast, so Maria’s eagerness to chat, ask questions, and massage your shoulders while you eat wasn’t my style. She’s very kind and friendly, though. This isn’t a complaint, and I’m still giving five stars, but the approach may not suit everyone.

The hosts are the best part of staying here. They make you feel welcome and are genuinely helpful with local information and sightseeing. Breakfast has a great selection of food too. The location is right in the old town, close to restaurants, shops, and a small supermarket.

The room was very clean, functional, and well air-conditioned, and the B&B sits in a perfect spot in beautiful Monopoli. Maria brought joy, humor, and great advice as a host. Every morning, Filippo treated us to delicious breakfast and what has to be the best cappuccino in the world, with more good humor and useful tips. Thanks again to Maria and Filippo for a wonderful stay. I highly recommend this B&B.
