When we arrived and unpacked, we found that the apartment didn't have the things listed in the offer. That can happen, so we asked Paola if she could bring some of the missing items. She refused and offensively told us that if we didn't like the apartment, we should leave immediately. We hadn't planned to leave, but Paola wouldn't let us stay. She shouted at us and mocked us, then began canceling our Booking.com reservation without our consent. The reservation was canceled as if it were our fault, meaning we were expected to pay even though she wouldn't let us stay. We wanted to sort things out with Booking.com before leaving, but Paola turned off the lights while we were packing, so we had to do it in the dark. I'm not even sure I got all my things. We said we wouldn't leave until Booking.com clarified the situation, and that if we had to pay, then we'd stay. Paola called a man, who threw our belongings out onto the street and told us to get out too. Luckily, Booking.com agreed we were right, so we didn't have to pay for a place we couldn't use because we'd been kicked out. We quickly found another apartment with a kind, respectful owner and had a great time there, while Paola's apartment was empty. Maybe she'll treat guests with more respect in future. Meeting Paola was the worst holiday experience of my life.

The place itself is average, but Paola is an awful, aggressive, rude host and could ruin your holiday. Find somewhere else in Monopoli. Don't go there, ever. Edit: Don't believe the good reviews. The apartment stayed empty the whole week after we left. Now, after my negative review, good reviews suddenly appeared, all posted on the same day. They're all fake.

The apartment is average, but the owner is awful and doesn't respect guests. In all my travels, I've never met anyone so unkind. It's a waste of time and money, and I don't recommend staying here.

The rooms aren't cleaned, and even the rubbish is left there. Towels aren't changed either.
