We felt so welcome that it was like being part of the host’s family. She brought us delicious Italian snacks and food every day. The apartment is spotless and small, but thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed, including a kitchen, beach gear, an iron, and a hairdryer. It’s right in the old town, beside the beach and five-star hotels, yet very quiet inside thanks to good insulation. The rooftop view is incredible, a full 360 degrees and even better than the one at the hotel next door.

The location was good, close to the sea, but the stay wasn’t worth the price. We had to call the owner twice while waiting outside because she hadn’t realized we were there. The room also hadn’t been cleaned yet, and there wasn’t enough hot water for a shower. The owner lives in the same building, which felt like an invasion of personal space. I hope things improve.

Monopoli is lovely, and I’d definitely return to Casa Roberto. The terrace has a stunning view, and the room is in a perfect spot. The host made me feel welcome with homemade focaccia, wine, and other Puglia delicacies. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

There was no hot water at all. The boiler is so small that even when it’s full, you get at most five minutes to wash. I can’t imagine how you’d bathe children there. We also waited outside for 20 minutes before the owner opened the door. We tried to tell her we were outside, but she doesn’t speak English and couldn’t understand us.

The room was a good size, tidy and clean, and the terrace has an incredible view. But what really stood out was the welcome: the lady was so kind and caring, the best I’ve ever experienced.
