La Peschiera

For over 1500€ a night, this so-called 5-star luxury hotel, “La Peschiera,” fell drastically short of what I expected at this price. The pools were filthy, with peeling paint, black mould, and dead insects floating in the water. There were dead bugs stuck to the room curtains, and the A/C was dirty. The staff seemed disorganized and poorly trained, with no visible upper management on-site. Attention to detail was shockingly poor: after rain, nobody dried the dangerously slippery patio, the only way to reach the rooms, or replaced wet cushions. After several days, nobody had even mentioned the à la carte breakfast options. This place is a complete rip-off and nowhere near the quality of other SLH properties. Save your money and avoid disappointment.

Online, it looks like a luxury escape, but what we found was a run-down hotel: filthy pools, black mold, and dead bugs on the blinds. The staff were untrained and disinterested, and seemed not to care at all. For the same price, we could have been relaxing in a stunning water villa in the Maldives or French Polynesia. Instead, we got grime, decay, and attitude. Avoid.

The luxury feeling was overwhelming, with an especially nice touch being the ride in a Maserati. It was an amazing stay in a fabulous setting, with a great crew. Things aren't always perfect in the way they are at an Asian 5 star, but the place is stunning, luxurious, and exclusive.

We had a fantastic time and would be more than happy to return. The hotel is quiet and spacious, with lovely pools and a decent beach. The rooms are right by the sea, so waking up to that was wonderful. The restaurant is expensive, but very good, and the stay felt like a real 5 star experience. It's a great base for exploring the area, or a beautiful, relaxing destination in its own right.
