When life gets hectic and you need somewhere to step away for a few days or even weeks, clear your head, and recharge, Monteluco is the kind of place I think of. It has that quiet, rural side of Italy people dream about, and the sense of calm I get there is unlike anywhere else I’ve visited. The apartments are lovely and comfortable, while still fitting the surroundings, and they have the modern conveniences you’d expect. The pool and its incredible views are an extra treat for me, since I don’t have anything like that at home. I’ve stayed at Monteluco twice, once on my own and with other company, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone wanting a little taste of dreamy Italy.

Such a lovely spot.

The pool kept the children happy, and we couldn't get enough of the peaceful setting and the views. We spent a week with the whole family in the Castello apartment at Monteluco, and after just two days we no longer felt like heading out, even though all the well-known Tuscan sights are within reach. We were perfectly content soaking up the sun by the pool or relaxing in the luxurious apartment, far from the usual rush and back at our own pace. Fantastic stay. We’ll be back!

The pool, especially in the evening light, was a highlight, and the terrace at the spacious, modern Torre apartment looks over it and the Tuscan countryside. The old farmhouse has been restored with real taste, and the tree-lined grounds among the olive groves are beautifully kept. There are wide open views over the landscape, and the residence has excellent amenities. It's a great base for relaxing in nature, with a village grocery store just a few kilometers away for local goods at very reasonable prices. The charcuterie was excellent. There are places to eat for different budgets within 10 kilometers, including in San Vivaldo, Gambassi Terme, and Iano. Florence, Siena, and San Gimignano are less than an hour away, and the sandy beaches at Forte dei Marmi are also easy to reach. We’ll be back to Monteluco soon!

A lovely setting, with beautiful views across the Tuscan hills. Just the place to switch off completely.
