Argentario Lagoon Resort & Spa

I didn’t enjoy this stay at all. The room had poor sound insulation, so I could hear a child crying all night, and the beds were uncomfortable. The air conditioning was terrible, the pool was out of service without any warning, and there was no laundry bag or laundry service. Breakfast was bad, the food clearly wasn’t fresh, and we worried about food poisoning. It’s hard to get a simple continental breakfast wrong, but this was. There wasn’t even complimentary water, despite the hotel being in the middle of nowhere with no shops nearby. None of the services or amenities felt like those of a five-star hotel, and charging more than €200 a night is a joke. Staff seemed reluctant to do anything to improve things. I was also confronted and sworn at by a staff member for not moving my car. He expected me to reverse down a narrow path even though he had room to let me pass just a few feet away.

The staff were incredibly welcoming. They picked us up at the station and helped us get to and from the golf course for a round. It’s a great place to stop before an island trip or while visiting Argentario. One of the nicest experiences I’ve had in the area, and I’ll definitely be back.

The included breakfast was very basic, more like what you’d expect at a two-star hotel. Some fruit was off, and the milk and yogurt weren’t fresh. There was no refill water for our second night, and the bed was uncomfortable. The Wi-Fi and service were bad, the AC was bad, and there was no vanity kit. The pool was out of order, but clients weren’t told in advance. I raised these issues and nothing was addressed, despite them saying something different to Expedia. I’d have been happy with this place at a two- or three-star price, but it shouldn’t be listed as a five-star hotel. It may sound like a first-world problem, but the breakfast quality was shocking.

We stayed 12 days at Argentario Lagoon Resort and were really impressed by the staff. They were always friendly, smiling, and ready to help, arranging a fantastic boat tour, bike rentals, rides to and from the beach for our sailing lessons, and suggestions for things to do. Jacopo deserves six stars for supporting us with everything. It’s a peaceful location, ideal for switching off from the computer and calls. The large, comfortable swimming pool and lovely garden were perfect for enjoying the sun, and the hot swimming pool was very cool. The chef and restaurant service were great. We ate outside once, then chose to have all our other dinners in the restaurant. Breakfast was amazing, especially the cakes from the pastry chef, with a tasty new pastry every day and truly outstanding service. We’ll come back. I shared a few areas for improvement privately with the hotel.
