Agriturismo Ca' Isotta

The countryside views are fantastic, and we enjoyed cooling off in the pool on a hot day. It’s a rustic but charming farm stay, and the family works hard all day to look after the property and guests. Go with an open mind about life in the Italian countryside and you’ll have a good time. We stayed in the "Country" apartment with our two children and my mother-in-law. It worked for our group of five, though anyone wanting more privacy might prefer two separate rooms. The host was kind and accommodating. Our five-year-old loved the animals and got to help feed them one morning after we asked. Breakfast had plenty of good choices. We ate dinner on both nights and really liked the food, especially the pasta. We only tried the homemade still and sparkling white wines, and both were excellent to me.

The hosts were wonderful, and breakfast was lovely. The B&B sits high on a hill, so there’s a lovely view across the countryside. Our kids had a great time with the rabbits, chickens, sheep, and turtles. We only had one night because the weekend was booked up, and wished we could’ve stayed longer. Thank you, Grazie!

Ileana kindly drove us to a bus stop closer to the city when we checked out, since she was heading to the market anyway. The handmade pasta her mother made was delicious, and we took a bottle of their homemade wine home with us. The family run farm was such a welcoming place. We were able to check into our clean apartment an hour early, then had fresh fruit and cookies while we played foosball and swam in the fairly large pool. The owner’s six-year-old son joined us after asking his mum if it was okay. Their dogs Margarita and Tequila were very friendly too. There were goats, chickens, roosters, three feral cats, a pony, and a donkey around the farm. It was a refreshing change from the closed-in feeling of Bologna, and easy to reach by car. So glad we found it.

We were the only guests for our night there, and the hosts were really friendly with great service. I just wish the animal enclosures, especially the rabbits’, were bigger. The restaurant was closed on Thursday, but they still made us a simple, delicious pasta.
